Mr. Schechter was instrumental in growing a family business into the well-known branded jewelry company known as Honora. By 1990 Mr. Schechter had become the CEO of Honora, and its fine gems were sold in the most prestigious jewelry stores in America, as well as fine department and specialty stores. Under Mr. Schechter’s leadership, Honora became the first US company to import a new breed of cultured pearls grown in China. Realizing this would change the pearl industry forever, Mr. Schechter decided to change the entire business model of Honora and focus on this new supply. As a result, business rapidly expanded, and Mr. Schechter became an on-air guest for Honora on QVC, where he sold cultured pearls to their audience for over twenty years. In 2013, Honora was purchased by Richline, a Berkshire Hathaway company.

Mr. Schechter was extremely active in industry associations, and has served as President of the Plumb Club, and as an executive board member of the JVC and JFC. He has served on many other boards, including AGS, JIC, JCK GRANT, and QVC’s Vendor Advisory Board.
